Radiation burns are also known as radiation dermatitis
A radiation “burn” or rash is a common side effect of external beam radiation therapy to treat some forms of cancer. It’s also called radiation dermatitis. It may look red, irritated, swollen or sunburned. Later it may peel or itch.
You’re more likely to get a radiation burn if you’re also receiving chemotherapy. Your provider knows the risk of radiation burns, so they will check your skin or ask you if you”re having trouble.
Special creams or moisturizers may help your symptoms and your provider will advise which ones are safe to use.
Omeza® Collagen Matrix is indicated for the management of wounds including radiation burns.
